Eligibility for free and reduced tickets

Free tickets

Children and teenagers under 18 years old receive free admission to the Borghese Gallery. This applies to both EU and non-EU citizens.

Free admission still requires advance reservation. The mandatory €2 reservation fee applies to all visitors, including those with free tickets.

People with disabilities are entitled to free entry and exempt from the €2 mandatory reservation along with their caregiver, and they can get their tickets by writing to galleriaborghese@tosc.it.

Other categories are also entitled to free entry:

  • students and professor of architecture, conservation of cultural heritage, education, degree courses in humanities or literary subjects with focus on archaeology, history or art history in humanities and philosophy departments, or corresponding faculties and courses in EU member states
  • students and professor of Fine Arts Academies or equivalent in the EU
  • employees of Ministry of culture
  • groups of students from public or private schools of the European Union accompanied by their teachers
  • ICOM members
  • Italian school teaching staff, whether permanent or with a fixed-term contract, upon presentation of a suitable certificate issued by the educational institution

Reduced tickets

EU citizens aged 18-25 qualify for discounted Borghese Gallery tickets priced at €2. This rate applies to citizens from all European Union member states. Please note that the €2 mandatory reservation fee applies in addition to the discounted ticket price. Age verification occurs at the museum entrance, so visitors should arrive with proper identification.

School groups receive special rates with advance booking requirements. Large families may qualify for additional discounts under specific conditions.

Special free days and promotional entry offers

The first Sunday of each month provides free admission to all visitors. Tickets become available 10 days before the date through the official booking system.

National holidays including April 25, June 2, and November 4 offer institutional free admission days. The mandatory €2 reservation fee still applies on these promotional days.

Last-minute tickets are not available during free admission days due to high demand. Visitors should book as early as possible when tickets become available.

Free admission does not eliminate the timed entry system. Visitors must still select specific time slots and arrive punctually for their reserved entry time.

Maximum capacity remains at 360 people per two-hour time slot even on free days. The standard visiting schedule operates from 9 AM to 7 PM with two-hour intervals.
